Who said Long Live "Kido"

I am surprised to find the Kido virus is still at large in most of the Corporates and Educational Institutions

The reason I found out in the educational institutions are that the system administrators Install XP operating systems fresh after formatting. However as most of their systems are nor connected to internet and to save bandwidth Windows update services will not run in any of the systems. If any student or staff bring the USB/flash drive into the network Kido virus infect the local system and infects the whole campus network through file sharing.

After infection Kido mostly slows down the network speed thus the institutions looking for more bandwidth or network troubleshooting. One of the corporate customer actually end up buying 20 mbps leased lines instead of using existing 4mbps leased line for multi-branch connectivity.

To know more about the kido virus please visit the kaspersky support page:

The Microsoft windows patches to avoid infection by Kido was released in November 2008 MS08-067, MS08-068& January 2009. MS09-001

Practical solution to avoid KIDO spreading further.

Visit the following microsoft patches download link in ISO format

Burn the above ISO into CD & DVD and store along with your Operating systems CD/DVDs. Whenever New systems installed in the network update the operating system with the above 2 Update CD&DVD. Thus Infection of Kido can be stopped.

Note: without Microsoft operating system patches Kido cannot be stopped by any antivirus solution.
